Kate Beckinsale has not said anything since Sunday morning, and that silence is what has fans asking whether she is OK.

Early on Sept. 20, the Underworld star posted a black square to her Instagram feed with one word in white: “bye.” A second post, to her Stories, showed a street with a rainbow over it and the words “Congratulations you won. I give up.”

Both are gone now. They survive as screenshots that worried fans reposted on X, many of them asking anyone who knows her to check on her.

What did Kate Beckinsale post on Instagram?

Three things changed on her account in a matter of hours. The “bye” post went up on the grid. The “I give up” message went up in Stories. And the link in her bio pointed to an article about Caroline Flack, the Love Island host who died by suicide in February 2020.

Comments were switched off on the one post left on her profile. Her grid had already been almost empty: she cleared her Instagram in August.

Her representatives were contacted by several outlets on Sunday and had not responded by Sunday night. Beckinsale herself has not posted again.

This week Frankie Muniz set off a similar wave of concern when he posted that he had hit rock bottom. In Las Vegas, Carrot Top‘s rep said this weekend that the comedian is awake and improving in the hospital.

What has Kate Beckinsale said about her mental health?

In two Instagram videos earlier in September, since deleted, she talked about trauma and about caregiving. She did not frame them as a diagnosis; she talked about people who carry both.

Maybe don’t always tell a person how strong they are. Maybe that person is just crushed under the weight of having been strong for years.

In the same video she described people “silently caregiving, watching their loved ones deteriorate,” and said what they need to hear is not praise but “I’ll be here if you need to fall apart.”

What happened to Kate Beckinsale’s mother?

Her mother, the British actress Judy Loe, died in July 2025 after stage 4 cancer. Her stepfather, the director Roy Battersby, died in 2024.

After her mother’s death, she posted screenshots of dozens of comments about her appearance that she had received while grieving, and answered them publicly. Her father, actor Richard Beckinsale, died when she was 5.

She kept working and kept joking in public. In November 2025 she was on Jimmy Kimmel Live telling a story about her daughter Lily Sheen‘s boyfriend. Lily, 27, is her only child, with actor Michael Sheen.
