Red Robin Veterans Day 2026: The Free Burger Deal and What ID to Bring
Veterans and active-duty military eat free at Red Robin on Nov. 11. What comes with the meal, the fine print, which IDs the VA says prove service, and how the offer has changed since 2017.

- Red Robin’s free Veterans Day meal is back on Wednesday, Nov. 11: a Red’s Big Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries.
- It’s for veterans and active-duty military with a valid military ID or proof of service, dine-in only, at participating restaurants.
- The chain has run a version of the offer since at least 2017; in 2024 it served more than 100,000 burgers.
Red Robin will give veterans and active-duty service members a free Red’s Big Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026. The chain announced the offer on Oct. 22.
“For years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming veterans and active-duty military heroes to dine with us on Veterans Day as a small gesture of our gratitude,” said Dave Pace, Red Robin’s CEO and president.
What do you get with Red Robin’s Veterans Day offer?
One Red’s Big Tavern Burger: a single flat-top grilled beef patty with melted American cheese, Red’s Secret Sauce, lettuce and tomato on a toasted brioche bun. It comes with Bottomless Steak Fries, which means free refills for as long as you’re at the table.
The fine print matters on three points:
- Dine-in only. The free burger isn’t available for to-go, delivery or online orders.
- That burger only. Other burger styles and modifications are excluded. Substitutions, additions and premium sides cost extra.
- No stacking. It can’t be combined with other offers or discounts, including Red Robin Royalty rewards.
No purchase is required, and the offer is good only on Nov. 11 at participating restaurants, so it’s worth calling your location first.
What counts as proof of military service?
Red Robin asks for “a valid military ID or proof of service” and doesn’t list specific documents. The Department of Veterans Affairs says veterans only need one of these to claim discounts at stores and restaurants:
- Department of Defense ID card (Common Access Card or Uniformed Services ID), for retirees, active duty, the National Guard and the Reserves.
- Veteran Health Identification Card, issued to veterans enrolled in VA health care.
- Veteran ID Card, a digital photo ID for veterans with an honorable or general discharge. All new cards have been digital since September 2022; older physical cards still work.
- A veteran designation on a state driver’s license or ID, which all 50 states and Puerto Rico offer.

If you have none of these, the Veteran ID Card is the one you can apply for online. The application, at VA.gov, asks for a Social Security number, a scanned copy of discharge papers such as the DD214, a government-issued ID and a recent photo.
The VA doesn’t promise a turnaround, so apply now rather than the week of Nov. 11.
Has Red Robin always done this?
Red Robin called the free burger a tradition as early as 2017. The meal changed over the years, and in 2020 and 2021 it ran for two weeks, for members of its Royalty rewards program, instead of on Nov. 11.
| Year | The free meal | How it worked |
|---|---|---|
| 2017 to 2019 | Red’s Tavern Double, two patties, with Bottomless Steak Fries | Nov. 11 only, veterans and active duty |
| 2020 | Any Tavern burger with Bottomless Steak Fries | Nov. 12 to 30, Royalty military members only, to-go allowed |
| 2021 | Red’s Tavern Double | Nov. 1 to 14, Royalty military members, dine-in or to-go |
| 2022 | Red’s Tavern Double with bottomless fries | Nov. 11, dine-in only |
| 2023 | Red’s Big Tavern Burger, the new thicker single patty | Nov. 11, dine-in only |
| 2024 and 2025 | Red’s Big Tavern Burger with a choice of bottomless side | Nov. 11, dine-in only |
| 2026 | Red’s Big Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries | Nov. 11, dine-in only |
One small change for 2026: in 2024 and 2025 the offer let guests pick any bottomless side, including Yukon chips, steamed broccoli or a side salad. This year’s announcement names the steak fries.
It’s a busy day: Red Robin said it served more than 100,000 burgers to service members on Veterans Day 2024.
How can non-veterans take part?
Through November, Red Robin runs its Buy a Veteran a Gift Card program. Guests buy gift cards at participating restaurants, and Red Robin donates them to local veteran organizations to pay for meals for veterans in their communities.
Details for both programs are on Red Robin’s Veterans Day page, RedRobin.com/Veterans-Day.
