Orchestra of Lights Op. 2: The 12 Songs, What’s New and What Still Works
Gemmy's musical Christmas light show has a new generation at Lowe's. The six new songs, the new Curtain Light, whether your older pieces still work and everything you need to set it up.

- Orchestra of Lights Op. 2, Gemmy’s app-controlled musical light show, adds six songs, for 12 in all, plus a Curtain Light with 12 animated scenes.
- Older Orchestra of Lights pieces still work: they play along with the six original songs and glow warm white during the new ones.
- It’s sold only at Lowe’s, and you need a WiFi hub plus one Op. 2 speaker to hear all 12 songs.
Orchestra of Lights, the holiday light system that makes your yard dance to Christmas music, has a new generation. Gemmy Industries, the Texas company behind the Airblown inflatables, announced Orchestra of Lights Op. 2 on Oct. 23, sold only at Lowe’s.
The pitch is a synchronized show in your front yard: lights, projectors and decorations that change color and pulse in time with the music, all run from a free phone app.
What’s new in Orchestra of Lights Op. 2?
Three things, according to Gemmy: six new songs, “enhanced sound quality” and new pieces to add to a display. The one the company calls the showstopper is the Curtain Light, a hanging grid of lights with 12 animated scenes, including singing characters, that shimmer and chase in rhythm.

The full Op. 2 lineup:
- Light strings in three styles: C9, icicle and rope light
- Pathway markers in three styles: snowflakes, candy canes and candy cane arches
- Edison-style bulb and a 25-inch giant Christmas bulb
- 24-inch starburst and a set of two lighted spheres, 12 and 24 inches
- 6-foot Christmas tree
- Curtain Light

What songs does Orchestra of Lights Op. 2 play?
Twelve, all Christmas. The first six carried over from earlier generations, and the last six are new:
| Original six | New in Op. 2 |
|---|---|
| Bell Carol | Feliz Navidad |
| Classic Christmas Medley | Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas |
| Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy | Jingle Bells (vocal) |
| Deck the Halls | Jolly Old St. Nicholas |
| Jingle Bells (instrumental) | Magic Sleigh Ride |
| Religious Medley | Santa’s Gonna Swing Tonight, an original |
You aren’t limited to those. The speakers have Bluetooth, and Gemmy says the app can connect to your own music so the lights dance to it.
Will my old Orchestra of Lights work with Op. 2?
Yes. Gemmy says every previous generation works with Op. 2. The catch is the music: older lights sync to the six original songs and glow warm white while the six new ones play.
To play the new songs at all, you need an Op. 2 speaker: either the Illuminations Merry Moves Spotlight Set (Lowe’s item No. 882350) or the Universal Virtuoso Speaker (item No. 883588).

The Op. 2 pieces also work with the Orchestra of Lights hubs sold in 2024 and 2025, so a hub from either of those years doesn’t need replacing.
What do you need to set up Orchestra of Lights?
- A hub. The system doesn’t work without one, and one hub runs any mix of pieces. The new Op. 2 hub controls up to 60 items. It’s for indoor use only; everything else can go inside or out.
- A speaker piece for music, from the two above.
- The free app, on an iPhone with iOS 12 or later or an Android phone with 5.0 or later, with Bluetooth and location turned on.
- Home WiFi where the show is set up.
Two more tips from Gemmy. The Universal Virtuoso Speaker has six plug-in ports, so your regular string lights can blink along with the show.
And don’t chain more than 216 watts end to end: a C9 string draws 24 watts, so that’s nine strings at most. The app has a timer to start and stop the show.
