Trader Joe’s Halloween Mini Totes 2026: Release Date, New Colors and Price

• Trader Joe’s Trick-or-Treat Mini Canvas Totes go on sale at stores nationwide on Wednesday, Sept. 30, for $2.99 each.
• New this year: a lime green tote with purple handles and a black bottom. Three colorways from last year come back.

The smallest Trader Joe’s bags are back in Halloween colors. Trader Joe’s brings back its Trick-or-Treat Mini Canvas Totes on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at stores nationwide, with one new color combination, at $2.99 each, the same price as the other minis.

The chain confirmed the date and the colors, and the tote’s product page lists it as a limited-time item. Here’s what’s new, what’s back and what to know before you go.

When do the Trader Joe’s Halloween totes come out?

They hit stores on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Trader Joe’s stores are generally open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, with some exceptions, so check your store’s listing on the company’s website before heading out.

There is no online option. Trader Joe’s doesn’t sell any products online, doesn’t offer curbside pickup or delivery and doesn’t work with services like Instacart, according to its own FAQ.

Last year’s Halloween minis drew long lines when they first came out in October, and restocks were limited. Trader Joe’s has not announced a purchase limit for this year’s drop.

What colors are the 2026 Trader Joe’s Halloween totes?

Four combinations are in the 2026 lineup, all with the Trader Joe’s logo embroidered on the front:

• New: lime green with purple handles, a black bottom and an orange logo
• Returning: black with an orange logo
• Returning: purple with a neon green logo
• Returning: black with neon green handles, a purple bottom and an orange logo

Each tote measures about 13 inches long, 11 inches tall and 6 inches deep, per the product page, the same footprint as the original minis. Trader Joe’s pitches them for “candy-collecting adventures” and as lunch bags the rest of the year.

Is the orange Trader Joe’s Halloween tote coming back?

Maybe, depending on where you shop. Each Trader Joe’s decides how much to order of items like the mini totes, and the orange version isn’t part of the national lineup this year.

“Some stores may also have orange totes, the same as last year,” Nakia Rohde, public relations manager for Trader Joe’s, told the Reno Gazette Journal.

So if the orange one is the one you missed, the only way to know is to ask at your store.

Why do Trader Joe’s mini totes keep selling out?

Three things work together. They cost $2.99, they’re only around for a limited time, and every store orders its own stock. With no online sales, the only way to get one is to be at a store while it has them.

The minis started in 2024 with a white set trimmed in navy, yellow, red or green. “The smaller the tote, the bigger the sensation,” Trader Joe’s writes on the Halloween tote’s product page. A pastel set followed in spring 2025, the first Halloween set that fall and a striped set in June.

Two other totes are still up in the air. Trader Joe’s had no update on its pastel micro canvas totes, which were delayed indefinitely after being planned for this year, or on a new “I Love Trader Joe’s” mini tote.
